Molly Lewis, Everybody!
Hugh Jackman: The Ultimate Gentleman
HBO: There’s been chatter online about the way female characters act on the show. Do you believe they’re strong characters?
Olivia Munn: I think the female characters-Sloan, Maggie, MacKenzie-are all really strong. I just find it interesting that a man is allowed to fumble, and be silly, and…
hahaha pitch perfect makes me laugh. no offence gleeks. no offence.

I’m saying it loud and early, I LOVED “Zero Dark Thirty.” But, alas, I still have to be objective. So here’s the facts, decide for yourself!
The Great Points
- Kathryn Bigelow has a way of making her audience feel EXACTLY the way she feels
- We’re put through dozens of tense situations, like “Hurt Locker” only this time, things happen. They follow through on the tensions instead of just making us sit through things and having a “whew, that was close” moment
- Jessica Chastain’s Maya had good reasons to grow and motivations to go to the extremes she did
- Interesting formalism to handle such a real subject matter by using title screens and such gritty texture
- While Maya is one dimensional, she at least grows and is dynamic
- DOUBLETAP!!! Whenever someone was killed, a Seal did a double tap. Classic
The Not-So-Great Points
- Maya’s want and need are the same thing
- As great as the tension was, it was all situational, not so much a credit to writer Mark Boal as “Hurt Locker” was
- Bigelow, the first female Best Director, seems to have trouble directing women
- Maya’s growth is episodic and we don’t get to see any transition
Best Picture- Still on the fence if it’s Amour or Lincoln
Director- Michael Haneke, Amour
Actor- Daniel Day-Lewis, Lincoln
Supporting Actor- Robert DeNiro, Silver Linings Playbook
Actress- Jennifer Lawrence, Silver Linings Playbook (Chastain, WHILE STILL IMPRESSIVE played a one dimensional character whose growth is episodic instead of a smooth arc. If she looses, it’s more because of the character than her. Plus, did Wallis remind any one else of Ree in Winter’s Bone? Just throwing that out there.)
Supporting Actress- I would like Jacki Weaver, Silver Linings Playbook, but I need more time to feel out the likely winner
Cinematography- Life of Pi (Should be Zero Dark Thirty, but alas, THAT is the biggest snub in the nominations this year)
Animated Feature- Wreck-It Ralph
Original Screenplay- Moonrise Kingdom
Adapted Screenplay- Silver Linings Playbook
Editing- Zero Dark Thirty
Visual Effects- Life of Pi
More than just a summary
